It's been more than a year since Amadeu Casellas [an anarchist political prisoner of the spanish State whose hunger strike in 2009, which lasted more than 77 days and which launched powerful demonstrations and solidarity actions throughout the region (*translators note)] was placed into provisional detention without bail, under the accusation of aggravated robbery at a jewelry store.
This week on The Final Straw, we feature two main guests, anarchist prisoner Eric King and a member of his defense committee who is also Eric’s partner. This podcast is being released on the 3rd day of the International Week of Solidarity with Anarchist Prisoners from August 23-30th. The dates relate to the execution date of Italian-American anarchists Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti, August 23, 1927. More info on the week, including materials and ways to share your solidarity are up at Solidarity.International and you can donate to the International Anarchist Defense Fund at afund.antirep.net.

Jonathan Pollak, a senior leader of the Anarchists Against the Wall organization, has been absent from hearings related to a complaint filed against him by the Ad Kan organization. In addition, Pollak published an article in the Haaretz newspaper stating that he recognizes the judicial process, but he still “chooses not to appear.” The judge in the hearing filed a warrant to compel his attendance.

21.08.19: On Monday night, we set fire to several construction vehicles on the grounds of the Zwickau Marienthal Prison construction site. An excavator was burned out completely, the other four excavators and a front end loader were damaged by our fire and made partially unusable. We would like to dedicate this action especially to Loic, the Park Bench 3 and the Basel 18. They are missing from our side.

Nothing is forgotten.
Even two years later, we have not forgotten the days and nights of the G20 summit in Hamburg; the euphoria on the faces of those in revolt, the headlines about the nightly attacks in the lead up, the noticeable nervousness of the law enforcement officers. We remember the beginning of the campaigns focusing on the G20 and the desire to continue our mutual reference through targeted attacks beyond that short time frame.
From Support Eric King
On or around 8/3 Eric when in custody at USP Lee Eric woke up unable to use his left hand/arm whole side of his body. Unable to life his arm to brush his teeth. Slurred speech and paralysis of the whole left side of his face. When looking in the mirror he experienced mirrored-self misidentification which means that he did not recognize himself in the mirror. His brain could not connect that was him. Within 24 hours all symptoms were gone.
The massive rally on August 10 was the culmination of weeks of both authorized and unauthorized demonstrations in Moscow and elsewhere around Russia. The wave of demonstrations began on July 20, when 20,000 people gathered in Moscow to demand “fair” and “clean” local elections. A slew of liberal opposition candidates have been barred from running in the Moscow elections coming up on September 8. The July 20 demonstration was called to oppose what the opposition sees as collusion between the ruling United Russia Party, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, President Vladimir Putin, and their allies to prevent liberal opposition candidates from running.
