Realities behind the arrest of Nikos Romanos

This is an attempt to provide information and context for those outside Greece concerning the recent state abduction of anarchist Nikos Romanos.

On 31 October, 2024, an explosion in the Athens neighborhood of Ampelokopoi killed the comrade Kyriakos X and severely injured the comrade Marianna M.

They were both in an apartment where an explosive device detonated, knocking out one wall of the building. The state claims they were planning to detonate a bomb elsewhere and that it exploded prematurely. Both Kyriakos and Marianna are anarchists, respected participants in the movement.

from anarchists worldwide

The new trial against Revolutionary Struggle [Επαναστατικού Αγώνα, ‘Epanastatikòs Agonas’] will continue at the special court in Korydallso Prison (Athens) on Friday, January 10th, 2020, at 9:00AM. This ongoing legal proceeding against the organization and its members is part of the wider series of trials that continue to involve and be directed against the comrades, in particular Pola Roupa and Nikos Maziotis. Nikos Maziotis, however, has been in prison since July 16th, 2014. In this trial the comrades are accused of “supplying, possessing and manufacturing explosives”.

[Video]: Anarchists Burn Down the Christmas Tree

Athens, Greece: It's ironic. While the greek government has been terrorizing the neighborhood of Exarcheia since the summer with squat evictions, attacks on people inside coffee shops and bars and brutal beatings and arrests for no reason -especially following the protests on 17 November and 6 December, where an atypical martial was imposed in the area-, few days ago made an attempt to cover up the riot police crimes against the people in the area, by decorating Exarcheia Square with Christmas lights and a Christmas Tree.
