On Monday, February 19, 2024, the anarchist Tsvetana Jermanova, who was the last living surviving prisoner of the largest camp for political opponents of the Communist Party - Belene, died. Tsveta Jermanova would have turned 96 on March 20 this year. The farewell to the former Bolshevik regime camp inmate will take place in her native village of Leskovets, Pernik, on February 23, 2024 at 1 pm.

The Writer Hristo Karastoyanov Died

On January 23, the writer Hristo Karastoyanov died.

Hristo connected part of his creative path with the anarchist movement in Bulgaria and presented it in "Cuckoo's Yarn" and "The Same Night Awaits Us All" - as he got to know it over the years.

The delegation of the anti-authoritarian movement from Ljubljana that is participating in the Organizational Assembly of BAB2023 have travelled to Sofia (Bulgaria) to support the Anti-Lukov March on the 25th of February. They used this opportunity and visited also Niš (Serbia), Thessaloniki (Greece) and Istanbul (Turkey) to meet comrades from the anarchist movement, establish new contacts, promote BAB2023 and talk about ongoing struggles, international and mutual solidarity.

70 years later: The Man who Blew Up the Sofia Stalin Statue in 1953 & Survived

On March 3, 1953 a 19-year-old anarchist did the unthinkable and blew up the large monument of Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin that stood in the central Sofia Freedom Park – now Boris' Garden – and survived. He lives to this day, aged 90.
