It is my assessment that the actions of Workshops4Gaza (W4G), Lisa Hofmann-Kuroda, & their supporters in the last few months have largely vindicated Casey Goonan's October statement warning prisoners & prisoner support circles to avoid them.

Today at the federal building in downtown Oakland, dozens of friends, comrades and family gathered to support Casey at their sentencing hearing Before a courtroom with pews full of supporters, both the US Attorney and Casey’s legal team made their arguments before the judge in addition to Casey themselves addressing the court and reading a prepared statement.

An East Bay resident was sentenced on Tuesday to nearly 20 years in federal prison for committing a string of arsons and firebombings last year at the Oakland federal building and UC Berkeley campus, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
It’s almost quaint to declare permanent conflict with this society, with a world that sows domination in every corner. As long as it exists, conflict is guaranteed. And this world cannot exist without it’s strongest weapon: prison. The specter of punishment, the instrument of captivity, the ceaseless reformation of slavery. Until that realm is destroyed, freedom is meaningless. In our chosen struggles as anarchists, one of our tasks is to give real depth and content to our antagonisms.

Casey’s sentencing hearing has once again been postponed until July 22nd at 1pm at the Oakland Federal Court house. We will be mobilizing court support again for this hearing so stay tuned for confirmation and guidelines a few weeks before that date.
