XXVI ANTI-PRISON MARCH, CATALUNYA

MORE BEAUTIFUL THAN A PRISON IN FLAMES, IS THE PRISON THAT IS NEVER BUILT. DOWN WITH ALL CAGES

From Act for Freedom Now!

Account from some anarchists who joined from out of town last saturday:

Shouting the whole way with passion and rage, 80 of us marched for over hour out of the town of Martorell, to the two prisons of Brians in the Catalan countryside. With chants, music and fireworks, we let the people held captive know they’re not forgotten, despite all the state’s intentions to isolate them. And through the walls and layers upon layers of fences, they called and whistled back.

The Battle for Abortion and Reproductive Autonomy with Bay Ostrach

from The Final Straw Radio

This week on the show, we sat down with Bayla Ostrach, an activist, anarchist, longtime defender, provider of and researcher around issues of reproductive healthcare. We speak about experiences researching and working on the issue in Catalunya, the battle for abortion and reproductive autonomy in the so-called US, the challenges faced by independent clinics against the business model of clinic chains like Planned Parenthood, legal and material pressure and attacks by anti-abortion extremists as well as the cultural and political struggle to defend and expand the ability for people to get safe, affordable, full spectrum and stigma-free abortion and reproductive care more broadly.

27-F compas free on bail

via attaque, English translation by Act for freedom now!

The six anarchist comrades who stayed the last 8 month in preventive prison near Barcelona were liberated under obligation to pay 40.000€ bail each one! Accused of criminal association, and to act coordinated with violent actions i.e. burning a police-van at the Rambla during the 10-days-disturbs last February in Barcelona for the liberation of the political rapper Pablo Hazel.

International Call for Direct Action against Catalunya

Worldwide, solidarity means attack!

via Act for freedom now!

Any of these sites is a good place to remind these cretins that active international solidarity with our prisoners of the Social War is not just words: LET’S ATTACK! That is why this OCTOBER 27th, eight months after the captivity of our comrades, we will make the voice of those who have tried -in vain- to muzzle, heard. Organize your group, plan a fire, an attack, a protest canvas, a sabotage, or whatever you want; but do not remain impassive? There is too much posturing among so many verbose groups that do NOTHING. To the street already the kidnapped ones, for that story of the damned burned police van…

"Ungovernable" A journey through 21st Century anarchist Catalunya

From Todo por Hacer via El Libertario

"Ingobernables" [Ungovernable] is a documentary that brings us closer to the reality of the anarchist or anti-authoritarian movement in Catalonia. It mainly addresses the major events of social conflict in recent years: the various general strikes, the blockade of the Catalan Parliament, the movement of the outraged or 15-M, the processes of self-organization in neighborhoods and workplaces, and the revolt produced root of the eviction and demolition of the Can Vies Social Center, among others. It also reflects the vision of the ruling classes and the media on anarchism and Catalan antagonistic movements (what they call "anti-system") through their statements and treatment of certain news.

The Power of the Swamp: Against All Nationalism

From Malcontent Editions, Catalonia

What’s most prominent about the situation in Catalonia during the past few years has not been the permanent mobilization, the number of people that have participated in it, or the content of the reclamations. What calls the attention most is the absence of an unmistaken contestation of the Procés which doesn’t come from spanish nationalist positions, in a game of mirrors between reactionary images. The firm oppositions to the catalan nationalist movement, coming from socially critical and revolutionary positions, could be counted on the fingers of a hand, always limited to the taking of positions by isolated comrades.

Catalunya and the libertarians: Conversation with Embat about the Catalan crisis

from a-infos by Jose Antonio Gutierrez D.

The past few weeks have been hard in Catalonia. The images of the crowds protesting the sentences for "sedition" to former members of the Generalitat, and the subsequent repression, have gone around the world. That the wave of protests that travels around the world reaches a corner of Europe and exposes the system in its violence, stripped of its democratic pretensions, is a remarkable fact. With its own modalities, with its limitations, and with its specificity, Catalonia is also demonstrating the crisis faced by capitalist democracies in the supposed "end of history." To understand this moment a little better, we talked with members of the Catalan libertarian organization Embat.
