War diary from Ukraine [Part 1]: Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

via Enough14

Comrades from the Enough 14 and Cars of Hope collectives were in Ukraine. Here are some first impressions by Riot Turtle.

Much is happening under the radar here, partly because although the Kremlin narrative about “denazification” is bullshit, there are very real problems with fascists. Anarchist comrades are also not appreciated by the Ukrainian state. The cooperation between cops and fascists is sometimes similar to the situation in Germany. They are well connected with each other.

Soe Hok Gie’s diary

from coconuts.co By Kevin Ng

The life of celebrated Chinese-Indonesian intellectual, anarchist, and activist

For many, it’s difficult to determine Gie’s political beliefs, as he had never committed to any mainstream political groups. But it was apparent that he was, first and foremost, a humanist, as well as anti-authoritarian and anti-establishment. In Gie’s obituary written by political scientist and friend Benedict Anderson in a journal, Gie used to refer to himself as an “anarchist,” often saying it with a smile. “I write in part simply to relieve my sense of nausea at our condition. Sometimes, though, I feel as if it’s all useless. I feel that all there is in my articles is a few firecrackers. And I’d like to fill them with bombs,” Gie wrote to Anderson in a letter.

Diary of an Anarchist Tourist

from Centre of the Web

-Episode 4, by D.

If Anarchism is against oppression and exploitation, against the positioning of one above another, honesty is a part of that project. If you just saw the actions I did and not the words in my head, maybe you’d think there was something special here. I hope now you’ve seen the insecurity, the isolation and the dirt you’ll get a little of why I’m just a part of something, never the whole. Maybe there is something special too, but it's individuality, not perfection.
