20 years since the murder of Carlo Giuliani

20 years since the murder of Carlo Giuliani

It's been 20 years since the murder of Carlo Giuliani in Genoa. Those days that costed first of all a life, but also a lot of blood for all the others who joined the demonstrations, filled the streets, or the Diaz school. We don't want to just remember the sacrifice of our health or the fear, the traumas, and our rage and disillusionment. Or the year long trials and a total of 110 years in prison imposed against a movement. More important is still keeping on shouting that a different world is possible: a responsible, ecological, fair one.

From Freedom News UK

In 2020 real-life anarchist bookfairs were, sadly, largely out of the question and very little happened which wasn’t virtual, including in Dundee, Edinburgh and London which ran extensive showings. This trend continued into the first half of the year, with the recent Edinburgh Anarchist Feminist Bookfair putting on an excellent event on May 29th-30th (viewable here, and recommendable for podcast-type listening if you’re into that sort of thing).

NYC Anarchist Film Festival: Call for Contributions Deadline: August 1. Event on September 10.

The NYC Anarchist Film Festival is seeking contributions celebrating the irrepressible spirits of solidarity and resistance amid a world in crisis. Now in its 15th year, the AFF has showcased stories of people across the globe who fight for a better future against exploitation, oppression, and terror. While we will consider all entries, this year we are especially interested in films about the pandemic and its toll, the movement for racial justice, rising authoritarianism, and historical struggles that give context to present ones

Father Frost Against is now Feast After Plague

TAZ!

Festival will be organised in Helsinki from 11th to 14th of June.
The modern situation requires a change in the aesthetic and conceptual forms of expressing the real. Another incentive to rethink representation and tactics was the pandemic and macro-political vulnerability, rallies and waves of new political repression in Russia and Belarus, which affected all aspects of our life. After the worldwide "apocalypse", we will meet under a new slogan - "Feast After the Plague".

From Avtonom, Finland

Please note that because of border closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the festival will most likely be postponed to the spring or summer of 2021, and held under a different name. The new festival date will be announced no later than December 1. On December 1, we will share information about how to apply for a Finnish visa and crossing the border.

As of now: From 7 to 9 of January, in Helsinki, the annual cultural and political festival "Father Frost against" will take place. Here, on a politically neutral territory, we together (organizers / participants / guests) will create a temporary autonomous zone free from hierarchical forms of interaction and discrimination. The festival is organized by local activists, as well as participants from various horizontal initiatives, libertarian, left-oriented and anarchist communities in Russia and the post-Soviet area.

Welcome to the 2020 Anarchist Bookfair in London

From London Anarchist Bookfair

We wish we could be together again this year to meet old comrades and foes, conspire, educate, organize and plot in person, but due to Covid-19, this event will be held online from Saturday 17th October to Sunday 18th October 2020.

We did our best effort to facilitate our collective's first anarchist bookfair, and to try and make it accessible and inclusive online.

Life, Freedom & Ethics - Kropotkin Now!

Life, Freedom & Ethics - Kropotkin Now!

From Social History Portal dot org

Black Rose Books, in global collaboration with other organisations, scholars, activists and university departments, is organizing a conference to celebrate Peter Kropotkin’s life and work. This conference would commemorate 100 years since his death on February 8th, 1921.

Kropotkin is undoubtedly one of the most important anarchist thinkers to understand the vision, and action, needed for positive transformative change. His legacy is critically important and needs to be shared so that others can know about his values and what he dedicated his life towards.
