Tennessee, Louisiana, Georgia, and South Carolina are actively attempting to redraw congressional lines to reduce representation of Black voters. White supremacists are more emboldened than ever to show their true colors and terrorize their Black neighbors. Confederate flags hang from their doors, their cars, and are planted lovingly at their gravesites. Each flag is a reminder that minorities are not safe in this violent settler colony.

The marvelous PC and video game Black Myth: Wukong (2024), created by the previously low-profile Chinese company Game Science, is a spirited blockbuster adaptation of Wu Cheng’en’s epic fantasy novel, Journey to the West (c. 1592). Considered one of the four classic Chinese novels, Journey to the West presents a mythological spin on the monk Xuanzang’s unsanctioned seventh-century pilgrimage from China to India to recover Buddhist scriptures. While both Xuanzang and his literary counterpart Tang Sanzang are absent from Black Myth: Wukong, the “Great Sage” Sun Wukong—the novel’s beloved trickster monkey god and Sanzang’s main bodyguard—plays a prominent role.

On April 27, 2024 during the Northeast Regional Bash Back! Convergence, anarchists with an affinity for Muay Thai held an explicitly anarchist Muay Thai smoker (unsanctioned Muay Thai fight). This smoker was however organized as explicitly separate from Bash Back!

Sweet melodies accompany soft caresses, the sound of piss gurgling beside a couple kissing. Determined fuckers splayed out on tarps. The line between criminality and sensuality? We are tired of being serious. We are bored with dry meetings, solemn marches, and being told to read this or that text written to convince people that anarchism is worth their time. We are exhausted with inaction being the consequence of feeling like we have to get everything right.

Topic of the Week – As parts of the world are opening back up and returning to “normal”, other areas are experiencing the worst yet of the pandemic. Throughout the pandemic, there have been many stories of people picking up new hobbies, quitting their jobs, and finding themselves on new adventures in dark times. This week, we’re discussing the topic of fun.
