10 years of neighbourhood anarchism: The FAGC

From autonomies.org

We translated and published our first post dedicated to the Federación Anarquista Gran Canaria in May of 2013. We have since tried modestly and from a distance to follow the remarkable activity of those who have made the Federación and its anarchism a living reality, and this in ways that are today uncommon.

Theory and Analysis

The Federación Anarquista de Gran Canaria or FAGC celebrates its 10 years of existence this month. In the past we already translated a series of articles written by them outlining their ideological approach in what they call “neighbourhood anarchism”. But to celebrate this anniversary we decided to translate a summary of their history in these 10 years where they went from disrupting speeches by reforminist unions during the 15M square occupations to being the single entity in Gran Canaria that has facilitated more houses for people.

Call for solidarity with Ruymán Rodríguez

via Enough is enough!, originally published by Green Anticapitalist Front and Autonomies

The Green Anticapitalist Front translated an statement published by the Federación Anarquista Gran Canaria (Gran Canaria Anarquist Federation) where they detail the political persecution of their member Ruymán Rodríguez, who is facing false charges to cover up the brutal violence they inflicted upon him as part of a ploy to repress the radical housing movement in Gran Canaria. The FAGC he’s part of has been involved in a very successful social movement for housing in Gran Canaria and has helped hundreds of families left abandoned by the state. Like any other threat to its legitimacy, the state couldn’t allow this to continue unchallenged.

ALB Noticias.- Today the FAGC has briefly reappeared on twitter to summarize its activity during these months of pandemic. We reproduce the tweets that you can see with their interactions here. We are happy to hear from this group which is so combative and indispensable.
