As some of you may know, the Book Fair today did not go on as planned due to a multitude of issues. The Book Fair will continue tomorrow as planned from 12 to 6pm alongside Leimert Park Artwalk, the monthly community event organized by Ben Caldwell.

São Paulo Calling: Boycott the LA Anarchist Book Fair

I hate having to denounce events and collectives that at least, nominally, are associated with anarchism. In the instance of the Los Angeles Anarchist Book Fair (LAABF) and the collective that is implementing it, I have no choice. The LAABF has encouraged hatred among comrades, they have provided a platform for state socialists and marxist pseudo-economic analysis, and they have banned one of the most important North American anarchist publishing groups from tabling. Payback time.

The Brilliant: Episode 53 – A Round Table

From The Brilliant

As most listeners know The Brilliant is related to a few other public projects, namely Little Black Cart (LBC) a publisher and distributor of anarchist books and material. Recently LBC has been called out and generally indicted by a host of individuals and projects for publishing texts by and about with the Mexican group ITS (individual tending to the wild), in particular the eco-extremist journal Atassa. This indictment reached a fever pitch when a few motivated individuals approached the LBC table at the Seattle Anarchist Bookfair to castigate them for the publishing and punctuated this by tearing a book apart. Around the same time an article was released saying that this publishing meant that LBC was not an anarchist project. Here is the LBC response.

Why do we publish such objectionable things?

This attempt to clarify obvious facts is in response to the new call to arms by Scott Campell but really isn't about him. He serves as an excellent example of an approach to anarchism that we do not share, and so will stand in for all those who agree with his position but tbh it's hard to feel particularly strongly about him specifically.

From Little Black Cart

Welcome to the quarterly newsletter of the Little Black Cart project. We distribute anarchist anti-political books, pamphlets, and newspapers.

LBC is continuing on with our new, lighter 2017 schedule. This year we anticipate publishing 4-6 titles rather than the 10+ we have been making for the past five years.

From Little Black Cart

This was a difficult quarter, and year, for Little Black Cart, with sadness at the end of relationships, misrepresentation by those who are supposed to be comrades, and frustration at the misdirection of many friends and allies. Happily though, the year ended with anticipation for an exciting new time of renewed vigor and opportunity.

From Little Black Cart

It is summertime at LBC which means parties, temperate weather (thanks to the Bay), and some new projects. We returned (about three weeks ago) from our grueling but amazing 12,000 mile (19300 KM) casual LBC tour around the US and Canada which included a visit to Montreal for their annual bookfair, Tulsa OK for their bookfair, British Columbia for the strange Nihilism.Hope event, Ontario for the book launch event for Blessed is the Flame, and all over the midwest for speaking and social events.

From Little Black Cart

This Spring we (a two wheeled subset of LBC) plan on a big trip across the US. We'd like to visit your town. If you are in a town near where you see a gap of time please drop us a line at
the Little Black Cart email address. This trip we are doing presentations on nihilism, anarchist decision making, and a new networking project.

From Little Black Cart

A lot has changed in the past quarter. The heat of summer finally abated and the El Nino rains have begun! There has been a noticeable downtick in drama around these parts and the fourth annual East Bay Book & Conversation Event went swimmingly. We are very proud of the titles we have to offer you this quarter and look forward to your feedback.
