Financial crises and waves of refugees, social inequality and ecological catastrophes, terrorism and wars… Western civilization is like a bullet train accelerating toward a wall. And at the controls are governments that are not only incapable of solving people’s problems, but whose very existence is a problem.
From Perspectiva by Dr. Swan Dao
Anarchism is a contentious, enigmatic, and nebulous subject. As a political movement, it is all too often misconstrued and distorted: when not trivialised or censored, it is maligned and demonised. For the general public, the figure of the anarchist brings to mind bomb-throwing terrorists, violent strikers, or unprincipled vandals.
Uncivilized Podcast Interviews ANews
I can't help but open with our usual: hello, everyone, this is Artxmis with the uncivilized podcast. For those that do not know, the uncivilized project has come to an indefinite hiatus and has been taken offline. The original hiatus began out of a lack of interest on behalf of the creators. The taking down of the podcast happened because some members of the group behind the project feel intimidated by the trump's administration's growing venom towards anarchists and other "unamerican" elements. Before these decisions were made, I reached out to thecollective, an anonymous coalition that helps manage and moderate the site, and we were able to do an asynchronous interview. What you will read is the text version of that interview. Much love & many thanks to members of thecollective who participated and were very patient for this to come together.
The Anarchist Library is an internet archive of resources related to anarchism in the Czech language, as well as its own DIY publishing house. So you will find here, firstly, "borrowed" texts (that is, those published by someone other than us), and secondly, original texts that were first published on the Anarchist Library.
Topic of the week - How anarchists engage in the sharing of information has long been a critical part of the anarchist project, and as the media landscape of the future changes, perhaps anarchists must too. In this topic of the week, we will discuss the future of anarchist media.
From The Anarcho-Syndicalist Federation
The aim of anarchism is revolution, but we understand this revolution in a two-fold sense: Negatively speaking, what we are against is capitalism and the state. Positively, what we are for is the extension of democracy (direct, participatory democracy) to every institution of society.
