The Antiuniversity and the Anarchist Bookfair in London are joining forces in 2021 to bring together a week-long Antiuniversity Festival from the 4th to the 10th of September and the Anarchist Bookfair on the 11th and 12th of September.

‘Movement building, community building’: the anarchist social centre in London

Tucked away in a quiet corner of Elephant & Castle lies 56A Infoshop. Volunteer-run and 100% unfunded, it is a radical social centre, bookstore and archive. The concept behind the infoshop is to create a space for alternative cultural, social and political activities.

ASBO is the author of the seminal text Bang-Up and Smash: Women’s Prisons, Bail Hostels and Probation, partly an account and alaysis of systems she was held captive by. She is also part of the collective responsible for ‘The Road to Hell is Paved with Good Intentions: Covid-19, Corbyn and ‘Crisis’, which addresses Corbyn, voting and Covid-19.

In early May, members of London ABC sent her some questions on these topics. Her answers are bold, generous, heartfelt and inciteful, with a depth of personal reflections and a breadth of analysis grappling with the world we find ourselves in.

On 11 May, Dog Section Press (DSP) said it had distributed 800 copies of its newspaper DOPE to “homeless vendors around Whitechapel, London” over the past month. So The Canary spoke to DSP about its “experiment in radical publishing solidarity”.
