Forty years after his untimely death in 1985, Fredy Perlman’s last work has been published, a second volume of his novel, The Strait, which he left in handwritten form.
In 1986, the anarchist activist/historian (and FE contributor) David Porter commented in the journal Kairos... “Fredy’s special talent was to demonstrate the variety of its political forms,” a dialectic he described in his essays and books, in which “accumulation of unequal power leads to the privilege of a few and the degradation of the others.” Moreover, resisting tended to produce its own feedback “Every major step toward apparent liberation produces further domination…”

Ignacio de Llorens is a historian and philosopher. We met with him to discuss his newly published book, a compilation of research conducted intermittently over several decades: Life Will Shine on the Cliff: Volin (V. M. Eichenbaum) published in Spanish by KRK editions. It is the first biography of this Russian anarchist, whose life is as fascinating as it is unknown.
Blessed are the fanatical devotees of minor writers (hey, I’ve been here), for they ensure the unduly neglected don’t fall through the cracks and down the memory holes. Let us sing the praises of the intellectual free thinkers, the anonymous erudites, those toiling researchers who in their spare time seek out obscure periodicals, ephemera and texts, use archives, and remind the reading public: here was someone we ought not forget. Let us at least keep considering their work for now.

Ok so I’m slipping a bit with the website updates! So far this year we’ve released 14 new titles, 6 new versions of anarchist classics and reprinted a bunch of our better selling titles. The new titles include; The Romanian Right by Hirtsui Parai-Pana a look at the misery of Romanian politics. This inspired us to doa new version of Fredy Perlman’s The Continuing Appeal of Nationalism for which we came up with a classic looking new cover, featuring some Romanian fascist clerics.
