Tributes to our Friend and Comrade, Tarun Bhartiya (1970-2025)

From Raiot Collective

I have known him only through FB but that friendship has been a very enriching one because of his uncompromising anarchism which was built on the twin foundations of a deep theoretical study of classic anarchist texts and engagement with the down to earth communitarian knowledge of the indigenous peoples of the Northeast.

Ciao Mario

From Umanità Nova

Today we say goodbye to a free man. A "rebel," as he liked to call himself.

And Mario Candotto's life was a work of art and a hymn to rebellion and freedom. Anti-fascism, the Resistance, and deportation. Then came the dream of building socialism in Yugoslavia. A dream that almost immediately revealed itself to him as a scam or a nightmare. He then returned to Ronchi and the construction site, becoming more and more drawn to the anarchist group.

John Englart, 1955-2025: A life of honesty, integrity and social conscience

From Brunswick Voice

Much of John’s life from 1975 to 1990 revolved around the Anarchist movement in Sydney.  His experience in the short-lived Federation of Australian Anarchists cemented in him a determination to do Anarchism differently.  Accordingly, in 1977 he was a founding member of Jura Books, now Sydney’s longest running Anarchist bookshop.  Differences within the collective led to a split in 1982, with John amongst those leaving to establish the Redfern Black Rose Anarchist Bookshop.  Out of those experiences, John learnt much about working with people in a collective and egalitarian way.

The death of George Garbis, founder of the anarchist publisher "Free Press," marks the end of the historical era of a generation of Greek anarchists who had an enormous contribution. George Garbis, born in 1947, joined the anarchist movement in May 1968, influenced by the events in France.

Goffredo Fofi has died

From Rivista Malamente

The infosphere of what remains of the left in Italy is exploding with obituaries, crocodiles, and memories.

We too are doing our part, but please don't lump us into the rubble of the "left that once was," a stale position that doesn't belong to us. We salute Maestro Fofi as the editorial team of a small, provincial, anti-capitalist and anarchist social critique project, which Goffredo held in high esteem.

A Tribute to Aurora Failla (1951-2025)

From Centro studi libertari - Archivio G. Pinelli

Yesterday, Sunday 6 April 2025, Aurora Failla left us.

Aurora, born with her twin sister Gemma in Syracuse in 1951, can be said to have been an anarchist from birth. Daughter of Alfonso Failla and Eufemia Pastorello, she was politically active from an early age, first in Carrara, where she lived with her family, and then, starting in the mid-1970s, in Milan, where she joined the editorial staff of "A Rivista anarchica" and the Bandiera Nera group.

Jan Tesar (1933–2025)

From Anarchistická federace

A tireless fighter for equality, freedom and mutual aid, a lifelong fighter against authoritarianism and compromise, died on Monday, June 16. He was 92 years old. The books of historian Jan Tesař are unique. And all personal meetings with Jan Tesař were unforgettable. His firm determination not to give in to the ruthlessness of the powerful was admirable and his enormous energy in the fight for a just world was very inspiring, it was literally contagious.
