Learning From the Lines Drawn in the Sand: A Response to Fire Ant Movement Defense

This response is published anonymously and intended to be part of the current dialogue surrounding the harms of talking to the state surrounding the Prairieland cases. It's writers have been active in prisoner support, defendant support, and anti repression for several years, strongly support the DFW Support Committee and have a lot of for respect Fire Ant Movement Defense. If there was no respect present, this response would have been much shorter. Building, maintaining, and supporting infrastructures that can sustain mass anti repression campaigns and support cases like this with many defendants is an extremely important and useful thing, as we have seen in the recent cases in Minneapolis, politically targeted cases like Prairieland are only going to increase in frequency and audacity. Projects like Fire Ant Movement Defense are vital, which is why it is so important that our values regarding anti-repression have strong foundations and consistency.

TotW: Meaningful OpSec

MEANINGFUL OPSEC; OR, NOW, YOU DON’T HAVE A PERSONAL FBI AGENT I’ve been considering operational security and security culture a lot since the Turtle Island Liberation Front (TILF) case broke. For such a small group, about seven people, two were feds (well, one was a paid informant, the other was an FBI agent).

Barrett Brown - Hacktivist, Narcissist, Anonymous

From Anarchy Tube

How does someone introduce Barrett Brown? That's a really tough one because the personal, professional, and political stories play off each other in numerous ways. I would have to say that first of all, Barrett Brown is one of too few to survive a very intense era of anti-authoritarian activism and state repression. In addition, Brown is a survivor of the innumerable disappointments that I feel have had a big impact on the way things are now. He is someone who has comprehended the contemporary moment and has participated in its unfolding with the skills at his disposal and he is someone who has paid a big price for taking those risks. Naturally, his recently released book, "My Glorious Defeats: Hacktivist, Narcissist, Anonymous: A Memoir of Barrett Brown" is an excellent insight into what I just said and though I'm only on Chapter 5, it has been an enjoyable read.

DON’T TALK TO THE POLICE – A IS FOR ANARCHY

From Unoffensive animal

The cops are not your friends! Cops are the guardians of the state, and their purpose is to protect property and perpetuate oppression. Therefore the cops will never be on the same side as radical movements, not with anarchists, nor with anyone who fights for the liberation of non-human animals. Some cops will still try to be friendly to you. Don’t go for it! At all times, the cops are trying to gather information, even if they are pretending to be helpful or “just having a chat”! Remember, the cops are your enemy. Therefore you shouldn’t talk to them!

Minimizing DNA Traces During Riotous Moments

From Counter-surveillance resource center (CSRC)

In our experience, most of us in North America aren’t in the habit of thinking very much about DNA traces. Information about how DNA traces are created or prevented is limited to several myths that are passed around. That said, you can be pretty certain that whenever arson is involved, a DNA forensics team will be involved too. For example, an arrest was made recently for a Jane’s Revenge arson after DNA was recovered at the crime scene.
