Peter Lamborn Wilson is best known for the book TAZ.: The Temporary Autonomous Zone, Ontological Anarchism, Poetic Terrorism, and rightfully so. Written as Hakim Bey and first published by Autonomedia in 1991, many of the texts in TAZ had circulated for years in the ’80s zine underground.

Peter Lamborn Wilson, Advocate of ‘Poetic Terrorism,’ Dies at 76

From New York Times By Penelope Green | June 11, 2022

Peter Lamborn Wilson, a counterculture intellectual, anarchist, poet, musicologist and utopian who coined the term “temporary autonomous zone,” which became a cri de coeur for the organizers behind both Burning Man and Occupy Wall Street — as well as for ravers, cyberpunks and other late-20th-century antiestablishmentarians — died on May 23 at his home in Saugerties, N.Y. He was 76.

Peter Lamborn Wilson died in his apartment in Saugerties, NY last night, reportedly from a heart attack. Lewanne Jones, Fred Barney Taylor and I spent Saturday afternoon with him, filming what will have been a final interview with him for Konrad Becker in Vienna. Peter seemed no worse than usual, but of course he has been in bad health for a number of years. I will provide more details as soon as they become available to me. --Jim Fleming of Autonomedia
