Conflicts and anarchists

From Pramen

We were prompted to write this critical text by a situation that happened recently in social networks. In brief: we were invited to an anarchist group, where there was a person X., who was responsible for some pretty big problems within the anarchist movement. As a result of a conversation about X. we were removed from the chat room because we were considered to be engaging in “policing” and “blackmail”.

Anarchists at the back of history?

Anarchists at the back of history?

From Pramen

For many years the anarchist movement in Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine has participated in major political events with varying degrees of success. Maidan in Ukraine, protests against slavery and 2020 in Belarus, actions in Russia – wherever the struggle against authoritarianism began, anarchists were at the forefront. The same situation developed when Russia began its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Many comrades from various parts of the former Soviet Union took up arms to fight against Putin’s inhumane regime. Today there are more than a hundred anarchists and anti-fascists fighting in Ukraine, scattered across different units and sections of the front. Some have been able to create their own small fighting group of comrades and friends, while others fight on their own in the ranks of the ZSU.

“Now it’s definitely time to act”– interview with a member of the Anti-Authoritarian Squad

from pramen

After the war began, many of our comrades in Kiev became either volunteers or members of the Anti-Authoritarian Squad within the Territorial Defense. Now the squad is mainly engaged in training and guard duty. When the enemy was still in the Kyiv region, the guys went to frontline positions to help the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) with surveillance from drones, participated in transporting refugees through the green corridor, and went out on calls from citizens about sabotage groups.

We and the War

from Pramen

Over the past month you have seen that our team publishes information extremely rarely, and on the site itself news almost does not appear. This is due directly to the events taking place in Ukraine. Some of our comrades are involved in one form or another in the fight against the Russian invasion, and the focus of our collective has shifted to just that. Not on the publication of articles and political perspectives, but on the practical use of our skills against the “Russian world”. The very Russian world, which the Belarussian dictatorship is a representative of.

Interview with an anarchist from Kazakhstan

We spoke with a comrade and anarchist feminist from Kazakhstan to get a better understanding of what’s going on and to understand how local activists view the situation. What is the social nature of the uprising, what are its demands and forms, who is leading the armed struggle, and what consequences will these events bring to the region.

New year statement from anarchist collective Pramen from Belarus

solidarity

From Pramen

Dear comrades,

behind us 2020 – one of the most intense years in the history of Belarussian society and the anarchist movement. Solidarity became the main weapon in the struggle not only against the dictatorship, but also against the coronavirus. It was by collective efforts that we were able to overcome the first wave of the epidemic.

Belarus: Anarchists in the Uprising against the Dictatorship

From CrimethInc

We interviewed members of the Belarusian anarchist publishing collective Pramen and, to ensure that we obtained a well-rounded perspective, we also sought answers from another longtime Belarusian anarchist, who spoke on condition of anonymity. In the following discussion, they explore the background of the current crisis, describe how to organize under a repressive dictatorship, and reflect on the potential outcomes of the uprising.

How did the Belarusians come to rebellion against the dictatorship

August 11, 2020

If you had asked people in Belarus how long the dictatorship of Lukashenko was left in early 2020, they would have looked at you like a fool. In a respected dictatorship, such questions are not asked, because you know what can happen. And in general, it so happens that the reign of the great leader is timeless. But the situation has changed so radically over the last 8 months that Belarusians took to the streets and for the first time in the new history of Belarus they fought back the police in at least 33 different cities of the country.
