TACOMA AGAINST THE POLICE: REPORT BACK FROM 1/24

from Puget Sound Anarchists

The night of 1/23 a video went viral of Tacoma pigs breaking up a side show and ramming thru a crowd, directly running over one person. Two people ended up hospitalized from this event. I’m not interested in discourse on whether people were blocking the car, attacking it, or the police were ‘afraid for their lives’ or whatever. The pigs should always be afraid for their lives and if people chose to attack the pigs when they tried to break up their fun, all the more power to them.

Monument to Genocide Toppled and Defaced

Occupied Chinook land. Thanksgiving Eve.

A few days earlier, Indigenous anarchist comrades had put out a public call for a night of decentralized attack against symbols of colonialism for the night before Thanksgiving day. For one group of anarchist troublemakers, one target in particular came to mind.

Reportback from Impromptu Fuck the 4th March

What started as a day of chill BLM marches and fuck the 4th dance parties gave way to one of the most intensely destructive nights I think I’ve ever seen in Oly. Around 10:30ish a crowd of around 40 in all black assembled at a fountain at one end of town. I wasn’t really sure what the vibe was gonna be for the night, for Olympia a 40 deep black bloc (or march in general) is pretty big but it never feels big enough, so I was anxious. I looked up at the full moon illuminating our gathering and found some strength and comfort in that. After a few minutes of milling about some people began to chant “NO COPS, NO PRISONS, TOTAL ABOLITION” and the march took off.

Puget Sound Prisoner Support (PSPS) is an anti-repression collective
based in Seattle. For 5+ years we have provided jail and legal support for
people who have been arrested at protests and demonstrations. We walk people through
the legal procedure of arrest, court proceedings, bail if necessary,
getting in touch with a lawyer also if necessary, and in general help
people understand a confusing legal system. We do not provide legal
support for people who get arrested for civil disobedience; rather, we
provide an “emergency service” for when participants of a protest or
demonstration get arrested. We offer a safety net for people to land in
when the unexpected happens and things go wrong. We’ve supported friends
and strangers alike, bailed people out, showed up at court proceedings
throughout trials, and helped with fundraising to cover legal costs. Our
major caveat is that we do not offer support to anyone who would
endanger our communities by way of cooperating with the police, the
courts or any other governing agency. No snitching, plain and simple.
