From National Observer - by Carrie Saxifrage

“You don’t need to be inspired, you don’t need to care, you just need to say, ‘I will help you make that poster.’ If you don’t find something that wakes you up there, okay. But if you do, isn’t that wonderful? You changed your life and you get to do great things for the world.” - Mary Robinson, Council of Canadians, Winnipeg

Being born on the east coast as a person of color & growing up in a traditional Muslim family, I have seen my fair share of racism & Anti-Islamic sentiment. This racism is what eventually lead to my discovery of Anti-Racist Activism & radicalism in the anarchist punk community. Inside this community I learned about anarchism and eventually environmental & animal rights activism as there was plenty of crossover. One thing I did notice is that most of my fellow activists were pretty much white low to upper middle class kids.
