Slavs With Guns: A Dream Story

From The Transmetropolitan Review By Barabule Cutarescu

Editor’s Note: The entirety of this article is fiction and meant for entertainment purposes only.

Hey, you there? It’s me again, a stronger, even more powerful Barabule Cutarescu, peasant farmer of the Moldovan hills. The last time I wrote to you from far-eastern Romania, I thought it entirely possible that it might be my last communication to you losers. Turns out I was wrong. Turns out I believed a bit too much of the Russian propaganda and assumed, just as they did, that the entire population of Ukraine, exhausted from brutal IMF-imposed austerity, would just roll right over, allowing the dreaded Red Army to advance all the way to Moldova. It seemed like this was going to happen for exactly two days, but I’ll get to that later. Just remember, before reading any further, that no one is immune from propaganda. A wise cat once told me that, only sometimes I forget.

Balkan Anarchist Bookfair #14 (June 24-26)

After two years of pause because of pandemia, the 14th edition of the Balkan Anarchist Bookfair will take place this year in Cluj/Kolozsvár, Romania, between 24th and 26th of June, 2022.

The event gathers every year groups and individuals active in the anarchist/autonomous/anti-authoritarian scene in the Balkans and comrades from other areas.
The aim of the fair is not only to create a space for spreading written information produced by self-organised publishing collectives and other groups, but also to connect different initiatives and encourage debates about common issues we face in our local contexts. Since 2003, BAB took place thanks to the involvement of all the participants in a self-organised way.

The Incomprehensible Romanian Anarchist Position

The Incomprehensible Romanian Anarchist Position

From The Transmetropolitan Review by Barabule Cuterescu

I didn’t plan on writing another article in English, but the universe had different plans for me, Barabule Cutarescu, the Moldovan potato, your peasant narrator. It’s too weird of a story not to tell, so I don’t care who I piss off, especially now that I’m chilling in some village outside of Iași. I’m serious, I’m literally fucking freezing right now, but whatever, go enjoy your California sunlight. Us poor, miserable Moldovans will keep sliding down the frozen-ass roads on our way to the magazin general. Yeah, that’s right, Romanian sounds a little French, doesn’t it? So if you’re just a another dumb loser from the US who doesn’t know magasin général means general store in French, now’s the time to catch up and realize people in your country don’t know shit. It’s a serious problem.

The Vampires of Romania

From Transmetropolitan Review

When most people think of Romania, they imagine vampires. I’m not a vampire, but when a stranger finds out I’m Romanian, they say the word vampire. Always. Sometimes I’m the first to bring it up. It’s easier. Better to get it over with rather than wait, sort of like I’ve done here, in this first paragraph of this stupid article. Just so you know, I’m not going to be mentioning vampires after this.
