In the end of July 2024 an anarchist member of Ukrainian armed forces shared their thoughts with Takku as follows.

My name is Ljosha. I lived in Sweden before the war, but I came to Ukraine after Russia launched its full-scale invasion. Together with my comrades, I wanted to develop anarchist organizing and activities, to defend the Ukrainian people and nature, and to strengthen the anarchist movement in the revolutionary struggle.

On Wednesday, a meeting about antifascism in Stockholm was attacked by a group of Nazis. The Green and Left parties organised the meeting, and Mattias Wåg, publisher of the anarchist magazine Brand and veteran antifascist, was one of the participants. The Nazi attackers singled him out.

Printed four times a year, Brand [‘fire’] has been published in Sweden since 1898. Freedom itself has been published since 1886, but the pause for Freedom in the 1930s means they and Brand can argue over who’s the oldest.

We mourn the death of comrade Julio Mancebo, who was a militant of Juventudes Libertarias and later one of the founding members of our Organization and also a part of OPR-33 [the guerilla wing of the FAU]. Needless to say: a great artist of our people.

In February, Sweden’s Trespasser released a scathing statement on debt by flipping Biblical themes and reviving thousand-year-old poetry to mirror modern political ailments. ἈΠΟΚΆΛΥΨΙΣ is the duo’s second album, and though its ambitions are lofty, its sound is anything but. Trespasser, comprised of composer/instrumentalist XVI and vocalist Dräparn, prefer clear production quality and blunt force, the latter of which reflects their anarchist ideals. They repurpose the urgency often found in hardcore punk into a meaty yet triumphant barrage that’s outgrown their former black metal distinction.
