In these dark times, it makes sense to get your head out of the sand, get moving, and organize and help shape something. Anarchist Days will take place in Greifswald from August 23-25, 2024. The focus is on networking libertarian and anarchist people. We also want to discuss together, educate ourselves, and shape the libertarian A-Days together in many different ways.

We’re sharing here a recent conversation that I had with Thomas Meyer-Falk, an anarchist who just finished a 27 year prison stint in Germany to speak about his life, his incarceration and his hopes now that he’s out. Thomas was involved in a bank robbery in 1996 as a young RASH anarchist skinhead who hoped to fund above ground and underground leftist organizing and continued to be incarcerated for the threats he made upon his capture. While inside he toned it down a bit, became a jailhouse lawyer of sorts and built connections with publishing projects, support groups and a radio station on the outside.

Fire Ant is a quarterly publication focused on spreading the words of anarchist prisoners and generating material solidarity for our imprisoned friends. Begun as a collaboration between anarchist prisoners and anarchists in Maine, Fire Ant seeks to raise material aid for anarchist prisoners while fostering communication between anarchists on both sides of the walls. This makes June 11 all the more important. The day gives individuals a face, a name, it brings people into the public eye. It gives strength. It sends a signal of courage and determination. The day proves that there are people who care about the fate of those who have been locked up for a long time and who want to fight for change.
