What Kind of Anarchism Survives the 20th Century?

Continuing on from https://anarchistnews.org/content/new-column-anarchism-21st-century

In a steel mill outside Newark, a man loses three fingers when a safety valve fails. He’s sent home with half pay and a fresh union pin. In Detroit, a worker in the paint shop organizes with younger comrades—until he’s reassigned to janitorial overnight. In Chicago, a union vote passes, but the women on the line get little in return.

Notes on New Anarchy – A talk by CCF, Spyros Mandylas, and Cell of Chaotic Strike (2013)

The following interviews were given by Spyros Mandylas and Christos Tsakalos (CCF) on events organized by anarchist collectives (mentioned above each interview) and on self-organized anarchist radio 105FM. In addition, a brochure of Cell of Chaotic Strike accompanies the collected speaches. Some parts within the text might sound repetive, exactly because there were similar questions on different interviews. The point of this article, was to collect most of them (if not all), in order to give a clear picture of what New Anarchy is.

Regarding the Statement by the Montreal Anarchist Bookfair Collective

From Constellation

In March 2024, when the Montreal Anarchist Bookfair Collective (MABC) announced the cancellation of that year’s bookfair, a group of local anarchists got together to make sure it happened anyway. We launched Constellation, a weekend-long anarchist festival that would include a one-day bookfair. The initiative was well received and we decided to do it again in 2025, this time extending the festival to a week. A few days ago, the MABC released a statement declaring their return. You can find it on their Mastodon and Facebook pages. It specifically mentions Constellation (although not by name) and we thought it would be useful to offer our insight on some of the points raised within.

Zine: Freeing Assata

From never sleep

Making this zine started for me as a vague desire to know how Assata Shakur escaped from prison. I had enjoyed reading her autobiography “Assata” and I was left wanting to know more. One chapter ends with her declaring that she was done with being locked up, and the next begins with her living in Cuba if I remember correctly. I mostly moved on, focusing on other things. More recently a friend mentioned that they had heard of a book about the Shakur family that went into the details of the liberation.

Why Trump’s 2025 USA Is Not Fascist: An Anarcho-Communist Analysis

From The Polar Bl@st

In 2025, as Donald Trump re-enters the White House, a familiar discourse reignites across left-leaning and liberal spaces: “Trump is a fascist.” For many, especially in the mainstream, it’s an emotionally satisfying shorthand for what they experience as authoritarian, cruel, and dangerous leadership. And to be fair, much of what the Trump regime has done—both in the past and now in its return—has been undeniably authoritarian and reactionary.

Disabled Anarchists - An Introduction

From The Commoner

Disabled people have been active parts of every liberatory movement. Yet when their histories are recounted, disability is often excluded to avoid tarnishing their reputations. This widespread and harmful practice strips away the full humanity of these figures and reinforces disability as a stigmatising characteristic. This essay aims to celebrate the lives of disabled anarchists by reclaiming their histories and framing disability not as an individual shameful failure that undermines one’s agency, legitimacy and personhood, but rather, as a neutral characteristic within the natural variation of humanity, one which likely deeply impacted their life experiences and perspectives. This essay will provide brief biographies of several disabled anarchists, briefly outline how ableism is foundational to other forms of oppression and provide an outline of The Social Model of Disability.

Anarchism, Daoism, and the Great Sage: A Review of Black Myth: Wukong

From Notes toward an International Libertarian Eco-Socialism by Javier Sethness

The marvelous PC and video game Black Myth: Wukong (2024), created by the previously low-profile Chinese company Game Science, is a spirited blockbuster adaptation of Wu Cheng’en’s epic fantasy novel, Journey to the West (c. 1592). Considered one of the four classic Chinese novels, Journey to the West presents a mythological spin on the monk Xuanzang’s unsanctioned seventh-century pilgrimage from China to India to recover Buddhist scriptures. While both Xuanzang and his literary counterpart Tang Sanzang are absent from Black Myth: Wukong, the “Great Sage” Sun Wukong—the novel’s beloved trickster monkey god and Sanzang’s main bodyguard—plays a prominent role.
