In case anyone wanted to be made aware, AnokChan is no more. Interest was low, though still somewhat steady off and on for the past couple years.
AnokChan was started over 5 years ago in response to the ending of images in comments on Anarchist News as a way to give the trolls a sandbox to play in. The experiment had a peak probably in 2013 around the 3 year mark and expanded into making a wiki that covered memes from an anarchist troll's perspective.
Some images were rather high quality, while many others not so much, but most were still funny or on point. A lot of essays were written with an experimental edge, some of which probably could've been cleaned up and published at least here, but most weren't.
There were quite a few good games we'd play and when Anarchist News was down for some odd reason, we'd sometimes bullshit while we waited for the site to come back up.
It was some good times. If it had picked up just a few more regulars, we probably would've found a way to revamp it, but it had run its course.
Thanks all for participating.

I was never part of that chan internet culture. It would be nice to have an anarchist website that returned to what anews used to be. Unmoderated comments and images abound.
Well, let's figure this out. What else would it have?
What I'm thinking could replace Anews that would be more advanced would involve some networking with anarchist magazines, radio shows and techies to make a multi-media zine site. The anarchist magazines and radio shows could make specific content for the site that is exclusive to the site to draw attention. Have a two tiered system of discussion: Comment and letter. Letters would be approved by editors while comments just appear.
Connect this multi-magazine site with space with visible praxis groups of various sorts to hold discussions, call events and showcase what they are working on. I've got more ideas, just looking for a good brainstorm session because I'd need to sell the idea.
I think most modern anarchist sites have been quite bad in regards to adapting to the contemporary social media landscape which is bigger then the activist milieu landscape, though they could still have their place. Have an anarchy mag type approach to letters and an antipolitics.net(remember that place) approach to comments(a site that from beginning to end was largely unmoderated save for spam and doxing).
Overall I like where you're going.
Well those child porn posts were pretty much the final nail in the coffin.
That could've been fought off and it wouldn't of been the first time. It is more about a low interest that wasn't going to grow unless something changed. The CP was a good reason to acknowledge the project had reached an end.
If there ever seems to be a strong interest again, we can consider starting a fresh imageboard or something similar in the future.
Good riddance, it was a ghost-town. Join the new radleft imageboard: leftypol on 8chan. We've got dank memes. Beware: identity politics are frowned upon.
I would also like to take this chance to shill for leftypol. We're the internet's #1 producer of quality, leftist memes. We're very welcoming, as long as you leave your idpol at the door.
/leftypol/ is an unsufferable mess.
If you must absolutely use 8chan for your imageboard urges, the /anarcho/ board is far more comfy. And actually useable.
"/leftypol/," styling it the same as those disgusting places but with a "lefty" twist ugh
