Melbourne, Australia: Solidarity with grand jury resisters and response to coffee with ASIO

<table><tr><td>“I must not fear.
Fear is the mind killer.
Fear is the little death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain.”
-Frank Herbert, Dune

As part of the days of solidarity with grand jury resisters in the US, on the morning of Friday 16th November we hung a banner on the Merri Parade train overpass which read "SOLIDARITY WITH GRAND JURY RESISTERS IN THE USA, ACAB". In addition to that and in reference to this article ( we wrote "DON'T TALK TO ASIO" on the front of the Melbourne Anarchist Club, and a huge "SHH! DON'T TALK TO COPS" on the Merri Creek bike path.</td><td><img title="You had me at little death" src=""></td></tr></t...

The silence of our comrades in the US, and refusing to snitch or give up any information to the police – despite facing lengthy prison terms for doing so – is inspirational. While across the Pacific those resisting the grand jury are holding it down, on our side of the world some supposed comrades are playing straight into the hands of the enemy.

For some of us the idea of going for coffee with an ASIO agent is unthinkable. Did you pick up the bill, or did they pay for their own lunch? Did they buy you a vegan, gluten free muffin with your soy latte? Would you have drained the pus out of their weeping boils if they had asked you to?

The political logic of liberal anarchists is to use the media to convince society that there are “good” anarchists and “bad” anarchists. We refuse this dichotomy. In the eyes of the state the only “good” people are the ones who are willing to keep their heads down, passively accept their slavery and quietly watch the world around them go to shit. Therefore as people who are actively opposed to domination in all its forms, we will never seek the legitimisation of the media / state. And we are proud to be their enemies.

It is crucial at all times, but especially now – during this period of increased, and targeted, repression towards anarchists in Australia and around the world – that we do not let fear and paranoia paralyse us in our struggle. That we continue the vital and dignified fight for freedom and liberated human potential, against the tyranny of alienation, exploitation, and boredom of everyday life under capitalism.

Our silence is our roar, let solidarity replace fear. Our collective rage is unshakable.

Fuck ASIO, fuck the media, fuck liberal activism.

the fearless hung a banner

the passion for freedom is stronger, uh... can you escape, if you are passionate enough? will someone come to your rescue? those things are uncertain... or is it about enduring...

is the passion for freedom stronger than prision? how can this be so, then?

if you fight to death before being captured, you are stronger than prison...

or is that so? anyway, i find statements like "THE PASSION FOR FREEDOM IS STRONGER THAN PRISON" to be pretty meaningless if they are just words, so leave it for when you jailbreak someone or something.

u are meaningless. i traced your i.p. and know who you are.

you are a wage-working porn addict who's highest level of militancy is a reading group. you may hold an anarchist viewpoint on life, but you certainly aren't a practitioner of anarchy.

when we meet later, can you order me a half foam capp' and a biscotti?

you do realise that no one actually involved with MAC talked to ASIO? And they released a statment saying so:

I did not realise.

"No one actually involved with MAC talked to ASIO"

Here is Rebecca Winter's statement where she admits to talking to them over coffee but says she didn't tell them anything:

So do you mean that she is not actually involved in MAC, contrary to what the original news article says? Or do you not release that simultaneously as the MAC released their statement saying none of them talked to the ASIO she released hers that says she did? MAC's statement does not say she is not a member or acknowledge that she talked to ASIO.

The first article clearly stated that as a representative of MAC she would meet with the feds, at a fucking cafe for god's sake! It's just the hypocrisy that gets to me, I mean, I'm not exasperated when liberals have coffee with feds, it's to be expected.

the article doesn't say she met with them as a representative of MAC, it said that she 'has been involved in a range of political activities including the Melbourne Anarchist Club'. And do you believe everything you read in the papers? To the best of my knowledge she's not a member anymore, and MAC don't defend anyone meeting with ASIO.
I agree that meeting w ASIO was a really shitty thing to do, but blaming a group for actions an (ex-)member took without consulting them is pretty silly. I know melbourne sectarian is wideranging and hilarious, but a serious response to the reality of repression shouldn't involve turning on each other just because. fucking hell.

OK, I accept your explanation, she's obviously an identity tripper and not one of your own, let's drop the whole attack on MAC and turn our attention to anarcho-liberals and how they are perverting the true anarchist spirit!

fuckssake. Is this just a fucking game? Are you serious, or do you just want to score points against anarchists you dislike/disagree with for unrelated reasons? you don't think that that kind of idiotic shitfighting and division can be as much an aim of security forces as actual information gathering? or is as useful to them, even if we create it entirely independently? especially when people go and fuck with another anarchist group without actually checking the facts of the situation, and just rely on information they get from the mainstream press, which they clearly can't even read carefully?

*Muad'Dib Muad'Dib Muad'Dib*

Of mice and genderless identities.

Oh right! The perfect society according to Frank Herbert, another anarcho-millenarist cultist!
