Anarchists Gather for Conference at the Corner of the World

Welcome to Tijuana

From Unicorn Riot By Ryan Fatica, Contributor

Tijuana, Mexico — Where the United States, the Pacific Ocean, and Mexico meet, a place sometimes referred to as “the corner of the world,” a sprawling 18-foot-tall barrier stretches out into the salt water, marking the international border. Waves crash against its concrete foundations and, at high tide, against the bollards themselves that stretch out more than 100 feet into the ocean.

Report From Our ‘Turning the Tide’ Study Series in Boston

Turning the Tide? Does this mean BRRN is going to destroy the moon? NOT COOL!

From Black Rose Anarchist Federation

Through the Fall and Winter of 2023, the Boston Local of Black Rose/Rosa Negra (BRRN) hosted a four-part discussion series on our program: Turning the Tide. The first collective effort of the newly reconstituted Boston Local, the discussion series brought 15 to 25 people to each of the meetings, with 40 or more individuals participating over the life of the series. Our goals, according to Local member Matt Tracy, were to “build connections with strangers and organizers surrounding our shared political questions, thoughts, and goals – and also try to come to a higher level of thinking and reflection regarding the program itself.” The series resulted in dozens of potential members interested in joining the Federation, a network of anarchist militants forming around us, and new local sectoral organizing projects.

A Bash Back! reportback from a group of janky & rowdy queers

A Bash Back! reportback from a group of janky & rowdy queers who had a gay ol time

who had a gay old time

From Scenes from the Atlanta Forest

Bash Back! was nothing short of the joyfully militant & orgiastically unhinged gathering it advertised itself to be– queer AF, silly, sexy & sketchy antics ensued almost every day/nite. A lot of us felt held in an urban space where there was room to be all kinds of things & ways, & not much was taboo.

Fuck Bash Back! 23

Fuck Bash Back! 23

From Bash Back

Fuck these middle aged organizers and their bullshit attempts to appease our rage. We will not be fucking stopped. Were you ever even nihilists?? You are almost as bad as the tiqqunists. We’re not some academic conference. So we’re saying no more workshops. All we want is orgies and actions. We want to be together and fight when we need to and wherever the fuck we want.

Wherever workers are in struggle, fly the red and black

From Derry Anarchist Collective

Belfast Radical Bookfair: Wherever workers are in struggle, fly the red and black

A special thanks to the Belfast Radical Bookfair collective for a fantastic event held in Artcetera studios earlier this month.

The Derry Anarchist Collective hosted a workshop discussion during the first Belfast Radical Bookfair in which participants dealt with the question of "What should anarchists do in times of crisis?"

Saint-Imier 2023: The International Anarchist Meetings

Saint-Imier 2023: The International Anarchist Meetings

From collettivoanarchico by FAI International Relations Commission

This summer, one of the most important international anarchist meetings of recent years, the Rencontres Internationales Antiautoritaires (RIA) “Anarchy 2023”, took place in Saint-Imier (Switzerland), from 19 to 23 July. Thousands of people from different continents participated, although a significant part came from French and German-speaking Europe. As the Italian Anarchist Federation – FAI, we have taken part in the meeting’s organizational process since 2020, and we attended with a large delegation, actively contributing by proposing debates, setting up an exhibition and holding a stand of Umanità Nova and Zero in Condotta editions in the book fair.

Report the Back, on the Seattle Anarchist Bookfair, annum 2023

Report the Back, wherein our heras brave the unknown, discover new and familiar faces, and dispense and receive tomes and witticisms

This report back is very partial as your guide did not themself attend any of the workshops, content to lurk behind books and zines, occasionally emerging only enough to thrust a text at someone who lingered too long or looked too inquisitive. Perhaps workshop goers will add their efforts in the comments below, so that we may all gain from their perspicacity.

From Integration Nightmare

This July I managed to visit two big anarchist festivals – Balkan Anarchist Bookfair and Anarchy 2023 in St.Imier. The first event attracted hundreds of activists mostly from the Balkans and Western Europe, while the Swiss festival had more people from outside the EU.

Anarchist Gatherings and Global Justice

From PM Press by Gabriel Kuhn, July 24, 2023

Yesterday, on July 23, one of the biggest anarchist gatherings of the 21st century ended in St. Imier, Switzerland. It was held (with a one-year delay due to Covid) at the 150th anniversary of Mikhail Bakunin and comrades founding a “Black International” there after they had been expelled from the First International.

The Anarchists of Electric Yerevan

The Anarchists of Electric Yerevan

From Organise!, Armenia

After the collapse of the Soviet Union, anarchism once again became a political force in Armenia. As anti-authoritarians stepped out into a new environment of political openness, things once again began to look brighter. This changed in 2008, when the right-wing authoritarian government of Serzh Sargsyan rose to power, crushing any dissent with an iron fist. As social services were cut to pieces and the state made political opposition increasingly unviable, anarchists gradually rebuilt their strength. Before Sargsyan's dictatorship was finally brought down in revolution, the Armenian people were already rising up in protest against him, such as it was when his government made the decision to increase electricity prices to unmanageable levels.

Report from 5th Anarchist General Forum, Cariacica, Espírito Santo, Brazil, Sept 8-11, 2022

From IFA

Between 8 and 11 September 2022, the 5th General Anarchist Forum (5FGA) took place in Cariacica – Espírito Santo – Brazil. After three years without performing it, we returned with joy and success to meet and work. The FGA is itinerant. This year we had four days with conferences, thematic tables, discussion groups, thematic groups, short courses, artistic activities and final plenary. Itinerancy confirms to be needed and important within a continental country such as Brazil.
