Power structures persist because power itself becomes the game. Even attempts to redistribute power often reinforce its logic rather than dismantling it. Can anarchism go beyond shifting power and instead make it something that naturally dissipates?

In 2007, Mexican artist Juan Pablo Macías developed an interest in anarchism – a set of beliefs that seeks to dismantle hierarchical government in favour of a mutualistic society. “But it was incredibly hard to find any information,” he recalls.

With the upcoming Complex Anarchism Symposium, we will be exploring the intersection between anarchism and complexity science. Anarchy, despite its popular definition as a state of disorder, is rather a mode of being where we organize ourselves voluntarily, that is, without coercion from a central controller or hierarchical system. During the symposium, we aim to apply and explore the interplay between these practices and concepts in order to experiment with alternative ways to organize our society.

John Couzin – Seeker of Peace, Poet and Propagandist (1934-2025)

We're sorry to report the death of John Couzin of Glasgow, among other things a poet, historian and stalwart of the Spirit of Revolt Archives of Dissent.
