New issue, ‘The Great Féminine Refusal’ out now.

From Distinctively Dionysian

Bonsoir, amis. Our next issue, « The Great Féminine Refusal: Neither Sister Nor Servant », is complete—printed once again on handmade paper, looking very pretty.

This isssue is not mere rejection—it is the seizing of what was never given, the refusal to kneel, et le triomphe d’une femme égoïste. The Great Féminine Refusal is a whispered spell of undoing from one who belongs to no cause. A decadent revolt against collectivity, morality, and ideology—this is not theory, but artful sabotage. Un sabotage féminin, without the phantasms that still haunt some of our favorites. If you’ve ever tasted your own sovereignty and smiled at the scandal, this issue already belongs to you.

IV. Dancing with Defiance
Rabelaisian laughter, the grotesque, and the carnivalesque as an individualiste revolt against today’s humorless order.

V. Beyond Wolfi, Beyond Lilith
A loving but total destruction of cher Wolfi Landstreicher’s Beyond Feminism and the counter-critique by Lilith—moving past both through one woman’s phantasm-free lens.

VI. An Egoist Anarcho-Surrealist Imagination
Un clin d’œil au cher Ron Sakolsky. Blending insurrectionary individualisme with surrealist rupture—undoing the dystopian present through aesthetic sabotage.

VII. Individualiste Heresy in Private Gatherings
A praxis beyond affinity—on the return of our private salons as spaces of intellectual insurrection; radical secrecy and exquisite selection.

VIII. Adieu, But Not Goodbye
A farewell to comfort, and a toast to what’s next: this closing piece offers a glimpse into the upcoming issue—featuring unpublished Novatore, updates on translation endeavors (including Bonanno’s Treaty on Uselessness and Destroy Religion), and a fiery comparative revolt beyond Stirner’s Creative Nothing and Mynona/Friedländer’s Creative Indifference (with the first English translations of Schöpferische Indifferenz), and more.

"Neither Sister" is an interesting assertion. Also is Fiona a real person? Far less (so, not) interested in Wolfi writing women if that's what's going on here.

Yes, I met her via Peter Good/Cunningham Amendment. Anyone who has met her can attest that nice is an understatement. I appreciate reading a woman's take on individualism and egoism as it is because I'm bro/manosphere out, but she lives in a way that speaks to it (and astounds me, tbh), which makes reading it more impactful for me. I know it's not the intention, as the welcome reiterates that she simply likes writing, but it influences me to come out of the shadows more in terms of being a woman, writing and not feeling guilty leaving my former collectivist rather marxist group behind. But yeah, not Wolfi. I know they are close in real life, though. Hoping to catch her, McQuinn, and Wolfi on the latters "speaking tour" which I hear she might join in EU for a few months.

Hi, thanks for the insight and sharing. Can you talk more about your transition away from marxist collectivism? How's that gone for you? You curiously mention guilt.

These are trying times, I myself have been dealing with feelings and self-crit about "doing enough" or more readily "going towards" battles, rather than hermitage.

What's with the secret to overcoming the lack of community among individualists?

This has nothing to do with Wolfi other than they know each-other? Yes, she is a person. Others write there as well but I only know her. I met the editor through an anarchist bbq on Denmen Island. Half these folks would melt in her presence. She’s intelligent, helpful, and welcoming. She’s involved with permaculture stuff out that way, and feeding and housing people on her own dime. And yeah sorry not sorry to go on, she also keeps trans people safe which is important to me. I know because she mentioned something about “don’t be shy ask for what you need” at the bbq and not knowing how she would view us (since she’s clearly an individualist and I’m trans and my other “roommate” is too) we worked up the nerve anyway and asked if we could work on her farm in exchange for something. The way she presents and lives is intimidating at first (you would never guess someone like her is an anarchist but wow is she) until you get to know her and see she’s a loving, mother type that keeps peeps safe and fed :) honestly the first individualist or egoist I met that made me rethink my ideas about it I dunno

anon (not verified) Thu, 03/27/2025 - 07:44

Fiona is definitely a real person. Interesting that you think wolfi would pretend to be someone he's not. Demonstrates that you don't know him.

Sorry, one more question. Is this high-level anarchist discourse that poor individualists will find worth teo meals or just something pretty for the petty bourgeois among us? As in, is this a "Steal this Album" situation?

bonjour.

wasn't the cult of dionysus a collectivist movement? doesn't he represent the dissolution of the individual into the wake of the cosmic surf?

now that i think of it, aren't they kind of an enemy of literature and rationality? what's distinctively dionysian about this? expensive, heady, overly produced for people who clearly already have the gods favor...astonishingly apollonian seems more appropriate...

UnleashAbraxas (not verified) Thu, 03/27/2025 - 15:04

In reply to by anon (not verified)

Interesting to think about this if just to sharpen my own take. Its more a dismantling of this exact misconception (that Dionysian means pure collectivism or irrationality). This would be mistaking the primordial cultic aspect of Dionysus for the Nietzschean creation Dionysian, which is fundamentally about the liberation of the self or the overcoming of self / boundaries and the ecstatic affirmation of one's own power. So Dionysian isn't mere dissolution into some cosmic surf, its more an intoxicating, artistic, destructive force for shattering illusions, including the illusion of collectivism.

As for literature and rationality, Dionysus is not their enemy, but a counterbalance. Birth of Tragedy precisely argues that the highest art which would include literature, is born out of the tension between Dionysian and Apollonian. So a purely Apollonian approach would be sterile formalism while the Dionysian brings intensity, life and the destruction necessary for creation.

Respectfully, calling it "astonishingly Apollonian" because of its style is a misfire too, since the Dionysian is not about rejecting quality or some forced poverty of aesthetics. It’s about intensity, risk, ecstasy, etc so qualities that don’t require a rejection of craft, but subversion and transcendence. Dionysian is then creative madness and the artist or people who break free from imposed formality.

I hate to use this word here but the critique sounds like the kind of resentment Nietzsche would’ve mocked—the suspicion that anything well-made must be a product of order rather than chaos. But true chaos doesn’t mean formlessness; it means a form that devours itself and is reborn. That’s how I take what is distinctly Dionysian or why how that makes sense. Just some thoughts. Reading it (and stocking it) this is how it makes sense to me.

what is being destroyed with this zine? phantasms? what illusions are being shattered? clearly not the one that has folks still stuck fetishizing 19th century continental philosophy. we're living in an epidemic of loneliness, suicide, and ethnic cleansing, what illusions of collectivism are you referring to? missing out on your free range celery water at whole foods?

Dionysus is literally the enemy of rationality and literature, even skepticism and critique. your boy nietzsche had such a terrible take on hellenic folk religion that he was ostracized and laughed at and here you are hundreds of years later being a groupie on the "good European" bandwagon. if holding a handcrafted, limited edition and indescribably obscure philosophy rag is your idea of "ecstacy" you need to be hit in the fucking head by a monk. maybe some of the overgrowth in there would dislodge.

Dionysus is basically a toxic male buffoon thug, and Neech was not condoning this beer garden philosophy, Instead he was referring to the innate instinctual drives which dominate the male constitution, and that it can be dissolved allowing the rational Appollonian passion for empathy over lust, and generosity over greed to produce a nice thing.

That's an intelligent point, but I suppose the cult of Dionysus might also represent "self-forgetfulness" (Stirner). Dissolving the self in moments of wild celebration also means dissolving other boundaries or concepts, such as community or the collective. It is about pure ecstasy. I imagine some egoists enjoy it because the ego is about will and includes irrational, unbounded desires and passions. So i would very much appreciate to see Georges Bataille discussed from an anarcho-egoist point of view in the next number of this amazing publication.

Bahaha so envious of Wolfi. We get it, you hate Wolfi. So mad. So so mad. Lol No one cares. The journal above isn’t Wolfi’s. Your fixation and the continual moralist dogshit take on a decades old writing that was removed from the final writings and disavowed (because morons couldn’t understand what he was saying, the time he was saying it in, *and* yes, he said it like an ass) is tired and boring. I appreciate the Dionysian journal and enjoy the writing, I don’t see that perspective anywhere else. The person above has it right regarding not commenting here. I honestly wish this site wouldn’t feature it. From the outside it looks associated with it until you get into comments which makes you wonder about agenda but maybe that’s too far into it. Still, judging by the comments, this is the last place anyone would want their zine, journal, project or meetup to be posted. It’s a shame this “news site” is dragged down by the comment section otherwise looks decent. Ok back to avoiding the links that brought me here.

The comments are only representative of the site's users, and while anon commenting is great and internet-wide anon should be protected, anons should absoltely be taken as what they are. that would be, completely unknown strangers with no measurable involvement or coherent personality with which to engage. you can take them as indicative of anarchists in general, thats disheartening... but i think it would be better to take them as POSSIBLY internal antagonists who dont actually matter.

It has always confused me why anyone would care about what someone uninvolved and otherwise unknown has to say about anything you are doing whatsoever. listening to them will never improve your life. ever.

That all said, it has always been helpful for me to be able to both sharpen my teeth and thicken my skin by submitting projects to the scrutiny of strangers i do not care about. it is useful to have to defend myself against people i know arent actually about it so i can be better armed when encountering people who ARE about it. spar before you fight.

You are absolutely making sense. i would like to see this site thrive and i think that CAN happen, but totally agree the hurdle in front of that finish line is anon comments. there are a few options to address that, one is waiting for the mods to come up with something structural, which im sure they are having similar conversations pretty often, but the one that interests me is turning the tide by bringing more people in who we actually and simply outnumbering the morons. its a big ask cause the current culture in the comments is a fucking military grade Good Faith Repellant and "tough it out a bit it COULD work" isnt an inspiring message.

My roots are largely in online "spaces" of various anti-authoritarian stripes, and those largely had the built in benefit (yes, benefit) of distrusting other users. we could internally release things and watch them get broken in real time, and the smart ones took notes on how their projects were being torn apart. build it again with those weaknesses in mind. constantly stress-test, cause once its out "in the wild" you wont have this intimate view of whats being done to your shit anymore.

We have the luxury of being able to see comments break the social environment. we are able to see what we wish would happen instead. lets take a few steps that direction as people who CAN tolerate the garbage and show a path for the people who cant. see where that path goes, ykno?

"but the one that interests me is turning the tide by bringing more people in who we actually and simply outnumbering the morons." Appreciate your thoughts, but from what I've seen here in just my visit today, I would think not many of intellect would stick around long enough to try; it isn't their site after all, so toughing it out for what, you know? To be berated, insulted, and read a constant stream of stupidity (and earlier today, extreme racism, sexism, homophobia, and p-jacketing, for starters) Unfortunately, everyone associated with it gets lumped into one big: no thanks! No one wants to stick around the cesspool to hope it gets better. Has to be a better way. I wish I knew; shame to see this just die out.

With all that is really happening to real people in the real society that we actually dwell in, egoist-individualist anarchy is the pretend-anarchy of the bassinet and the sandbox. It is not self-indulgent - it is disgustingly self-indulgent. It is not a thing of adult life.

Incorrect and wildly misinformed. Your sweeping judgment doesn’t reflect reality…. at least, not the reality I’ve experienced over the last four decades. Perhaps you've never met an actual individualist in the flesh. Not the kind who merely theorizes in reading circles or plays radical on the internet, but one who actually lives it. If you had, you’d know how far removed they are from the self-indulgence you accuse them of.

From where I sit, what you call “anarchy” is far closer to the sandbox—> rife with moralizing, groupthink, and gatekeeping. Meanwhile, the individualists I’ve encountered are some of the least judgmental, most self-directed, and, paradoxically, most generous people I’ve met. They don’t perform care for social credit or act out of obligation to some rigid ideological framework:: they help because they want to. They don’t need a banner, a club, or a rulebook. They are free in a way few others are.

Frankly, I strive to be more like it and overcome my shitty “anarchist” er leftist er social anarchist indoctrination because I’ve never met anyone who embodies anarchic living more honestly, fully—not just in words, but in real life action, in deed, in how they relate to others. If that doesn't fit into your definition of "adult life," perhaps it’s time to reconsider the narrowness of that definition.

You should broaden your ,,,,,,,knowledge of self.

Your vicarious living through the Three Stooges antics of Bonnano is really disgusting. I've met people in your subculture within a subculture. None of you are going to do armed robberies of jewelry stores -- and you shouldn't. You are into a really creepy let's-pretend-we-are-something-that-we-are-obviously-not trip. A society like the United States is rich in this sort of thing. Spray-painting Circle-A's around it just makes it a bit more shameful.

"Perhaps you've never met an actual individualist in the flesh."

Au contraire - I've known Wolfi, or whatever his compensatory handle is this week, for more than 40 years. And some of his harmless followers briefly about 25 years ago.

"who embodies anarchic living more honestly, fully—not just in words, but in real life action, in deed, in how they relate to others..."

With the hermetically sealed inside a feedback loop and wholly United States of 'Murika-type lack of self-awareness that is a prerequisite for taking this schtick serious, what you present here is nothing but a self-involved drop-out culture trip, accurately diagnosed and harpooned by Murray Bookchin 30 years ago in "Social Anarchism or Lifestyle Anarchism: An Unbridgeable Chasm." It finds its origins in the hippie drop out culture phenom of the early 1970s. It is for people who are passively estranged from the social order because they are passive and they are estranged -- and their passivity and estrangement are the beginning, middle and end of what they are about.

This comment, like the text it is championing, is both painfully reductive and counterproductive to its own stated goals.

Social anarchism and "lifestylists" dont need reconciliation or eradication, it is not desirable to anyone but socialists who desire a mass movement anarchism that necessitates the elimination of competition. its an unforunate reality socialists refuse to acknowledge, but being left alone is a much stronger motivator than taking on state or national scale responsibility. socialists doom themselves every time with their inability to leave people alonem they alienate quickly and permanently, turning masses away with the promise of even more not being left alone to go with all that extra unwanted responsibility.

"Youre all dropping out like the hippies" isnt really an insulting observation. if our options are "participate" or "participate" it becomes WAAAAAY more appealing to be left the fuck alone. bookchin can eat my shit and hair for the simple fact he spent so long being so wrong about what the masses he was courting wanted all for the simple fact he refused to listen to their discontent. weakest fucking link.

Go to any city with a clipboard and a stack of papers. ask people if they would take a one question survey. on that paper, have the question "would you rather the government left you alone forever or appointed you a to a role in government?"

Any city in all the world. post the results of that survey here and tell me again that this is a USian thing that only anarchists feel.

If you get a result of 50%+1 in favor of personal role in government i will livestream myself buying myself a brand new hat and then eating it.

The supposition that socialists are ever going to be successful as a mass movement is looney tunes because it assumes participation is desirable. it isnt the fault of anarchists that socialists do not get traction with anyone outside of university campuses. look within. listen to the masses you pretend to love so dearly. theyre pulling further right all across the world because you refuse to listen to them over what some niche theorists in the 1910s said. they arent being pulled right, theyre being pushed.

This scenario speaks to its author's abject passivity and terminal disengagement. Applying principles of reverse engineering to this, I will take a wild guess that 14:20 has never even once been involved in any wholly credible, public, collective direct action against the prevailing character of life under the dictatorship of the market, for if they had they would know not to suggest something as socially maladroit as this clipboard canvassing Straw Man scenario. If you are not seeing massive support for a rightward push across all walks, you are not leaving your city. the city, if youll remember from your college courses, produces nothing except capital and entertainment. want to seize the means of production? may want to start with the producers. you wont find many there. especially not the ones you desire for your revolutionary planned society. but you will find plenty of support for right wing political programs in the city as well, including those youve listed, yes. 50%+1 or the hat is free.

But this comment does explicitly reinforce my point. you want mass movement? you are dismissing chunks of the population from involvement WITHOUT any pressure being applied. okay, so you dont want landlords. thats fine, arent a whole lot of landlords around anyway. you can do without them. farmers? well, you piss them off you pretty quickly lose their mechanics and a chunk of the people those farmers sell to. the grifters on social media take the entire tech sector with them, so your mass movement wont go very far online at all. now you cant reach the rural population, but the farmers sure as fuck can! better focus more on thr city, then. at least we can seize the means of production in the cities. what does the city produce again? ah fuck, thats right.

You are playing a political game. you are rattling a political sabre. you are declaring a political war. you have no fucking clue how to politic. The left is bleeding out. Ceding all control without a fight whatsoever. Globally. You reek of passivity. A historical period like the one that is rapidly evolving now is a time for energetic, capable visionary subversives who will band together and tangle with objective reality on objective realities terms. This is not for sheepish posturing inert hippie-oids.

Oh wow... lol. I'll put aside your ultracringe Hollywood rhetoric here, but you're assuming that a handful of academic leftoid dorks are responsible for pushing "the masses" all around the world to the Right?

Better be some freemasonic plot!!!

Not a fan of this whole old-school eurocentric Greco-Roman mythology & rhetoric... pretty cringey.

- Chuang Zi was also a "Dionysian", but never knew or even needed a Dio as superstar mythological entity for *self-justification* (yawn). He didn't "ride the tiger" but rode a very large ox, which is way more badass, stylish and less reckless stupid, IMO.

(FYI you can't ride a tiger. Tiger will gladly eat your meathead before you can say hello.)

- Krishna was also one gigantic piece of Dyonisian without Dio, who'd make Dio look like a wannabe... The cult fanatics would even tell you he fucking invented Dio (as well as that other Dio) as anyways he got laid with so many women during his sexy fuckboi years that perhaps the whole of humanity might have been tainted by him.

Every culture has its context expressed by its rhetoric. Like, in the Muhrican context, Trump is their "Dionysian" extrovert, he even has a State political noun Trumpism named after him, has bibles with his name on the cover, makes Krishna look like a temple novice.

Sure, he's certainly gone beyond his prime, but in the end, it is the cumulative reputation that most Dionysian figures get their iconic veneration from. Look at Krishna/Buddha for instance, a viril free spirits who eventually become overweight bearded or pompador haired hermaphrodital transexual. That's walking the talk terminal.

Also, Buddha as interpreted by Zen and the term ' Buddha Nature ' is a better way to look at the Dionysian consciousness. Budd/Nat is returning to one's innate instinctual desires without - time/space, -work/property, - lust/oppression, all of which are cultural constructs. The Apollonian balance is in efficiency and moderation. It's like a child knowing it can't live solely on icecream and candy. This balance of spontaneous joy and embrassing the moment with an economy of survival I think is what Neech was describing, NOT the Viking rape and pillage model his critics accused him of.

Are you comparing Trump to a "viril free spirit"?

You mean the same who in the '90s was hanging out with Epstein?

And went to a mysterious trip to the Soviet Union in 1987 to meet Kremlin people?

Rub equal parts tumeric and coconut oil onto your muladhara, the root chakra. Get it deep in there. Picture Chuang Zi (sic) smacking you upside the head with a bamboo phallus shouting "eat my shit, gweilo!" and only then will you find bliss.

Can't wait to receive my $20 copy of Astonishingly Apollonian from Wolfi's 100% real inflatable basement girlfriend.

Do the recent price hikes have anything to do with the tarriffs from your Royal Majesty's Royal Canadia? Why do you hate the working class so much? Do harmless flocks deserve your ire, would-be anarchists?

So much praise of Novatore and suicidal nihilism in these texts. Live fast, die young and pretty, they say. Wolfi, Fiona, there's still time for you.

Next issue: Mainlander and Benatar! Bon voyage, mon herr!

One person is endlessly trying so hard to hate; it's embarrassing, the glaring "I know no one" / trying so hard spotlight you keep shining over yourself, complete with your own sockpuppet accounts and all. Wow! Fiona of Enemy Combatant riso, NYC surrealist Nadja etc. is not Wolfe's girlfriend and is WAY out of your league as well. This site needs to do better moderating. I would be mortified to be associated with these commenters. I do see the continual cleanup going on, but more moderation is needed. I would be too mortified to even alert her to this website sharing things due to the comments.

I just received the last two issues from her address in France, but I don’t know if that address is free to give out. ?? Issues have also been sent to me from BC and sometimes Astoria; the address is listed on the site. I know she’s in Antwerp now because I've been vicariously following her and her daughter's journey. The best bet is probably to go to the Dionysian noblogs webpage and contact. She is very friendly and loves trade. I send art for issues, and they always send extras, whether anyone pays or not.

Redirecting to her site is best, and anews did just that. I sincerely doubt she wants anyone from this hellhole comment section to have any of her addresses or follow her journey on her site.
